Haedar Akib*

ABSTRACT

Our age is a period of transformation and as a result, every organization (public, private, and or non-governmental organization) has to build the management of change into its structure, culture, strategy, etc. So, the need for organizational transformation represents a fundamental shift in the relationship of the organization to individual, groups, and to society as a whole. Simply put, organizations need to reconnect with the creative people that comprise them. Organizational transformation is a foci/focus and loci/locus of the heuristic perspective in organizational development studies. We define organizational transformation as the orchestrated redesign of genetic architecture of the organization, achieved by working simultaneously – although at different speeds – along the five dimensions of Reframing, Restructuring, Revitalizing, Renewal, and Reinspiring. The performance indicators of organizational transformation not “just old wine in a new bottle,” like some leaders or managers critics to it, however organizational transformation is a scientific process of reactualization of the human creative behavior in knowledge based organization.

ABSTRACT

This article presented the articulation of mean and purposes of institutional development. It begins with a historical perspective of institutional development, then institution and development concepts, and purposes of institutional development. By “institutions” we mean specific organizations, but we also mean institutions in the broader and more fundamental sense. The most critical areas of concern in institutional development today relate to the host country policy environment, the potential of various alternative forms of organization, the importance of institutional learning capacity, the problem of transferring knowledge and technology, improvement of coordination and linkages among institutions, improvement of management systems; provision of training, the role of local initiative and participation; and the role of institutions in undertaking the development of physical infrastructure.

Djoko Hartanto***

ABSTRACT

Nano technology has been widely used in various areas including telecommunication, medicine, biotechnology, environmental energy, universal security, and many more areas of life are affected by nano technological developments. The essence of nanotechnology is the ability to work at the molecular level in a critical length scale of matter typically under l00 nm. It is indeed extremely small and usually not visible to the naked eye but they offer a powerful and valuable benefit to human life. This paper is providing a highlight on how nano technology can help us to solve shortage electricity in Indonesia by reducing the amount of energy needed in the electricity. The result of this study shows that a lamp which is normally need 40 watt can be replaced with 1 watt which eventually will provide a significant reduction to the total amount of energy consumption. By pushing R & D in nano areas, we believe the amount of energy for electrify can be further decreased for the next coming years.
